An event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of poet and publicist Vagif Huseynov was held at the “Natavan” club of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union.
According to exclusive information provided to Global Art, opening the event with an introductory speech, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council Rashad Majid spoke about Vagif Huseynov’s creativity and honorable life path, expressed his impression of the information he received about his activities as an editor of a regional newspaper and a courageous journalist, and gave the floor to Elchin Mirzabayli, a member of the Milli Majlis, a member of the AYB Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of the Press Council, and honored journalist.
Sharing his thoughts and memories about his uncle Vagif Huseynov with the event participants, Elchin Mirzabayli noted that his activities as a journalist, as a poet, publicist, and playwright transcended regional borders and were of national importance.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Anar Isgandarov spoke about Vagif Huseynov's successful activities and resolute position as the editor of the "Chagirish" newspaper published in Masalli in the 1970s, and emphasized that the pressure exerted on Vagif Huseynov by the district administration at that time could not change his resolute position.
At the event, deputies of the Milli Majlis - Doctor of Historical Sciences Vasif Gafarov, Vice-Rector of ADA University Fariz Ismayilzade, Doctor of Political Sciences Elman Nasirov, as well as other participating guests - writer Yashar Rzayev, writer-dramatist Huseynbala Miralamov, Head of the Department of ANAS, Professor Islam Garibli, Doctor of Philological Sciences Aghajafar Hasanli, writer Nuraddin Muganli spoke about the work of Vagif Huseynov, and noted that despite his short life, he left behind a great spiritual legacy through his poetry, journalism, and dignified life.
Nigar Masumova, the poet's granddaughter, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Journalism of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, spoke about her grandfather's work and honorable life path, and expressed her desire to include examples of poet Vagif Huseynov's brilliant poetry in textbooks.
At the event, artistic recitation masters Mushfiga Baladdinqizi and Nubar Abiyeva recited Vagif Huseynov's poems.
Expressing her gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event, Vagif Huseynov's daughter, philologist Khalida Vagifqizi, recited examples of Vagif Huseynov's poems and emphasized the great need for in-depth research into the poet's literary heritage, which is of great importance in terms of the study of modern Azerbaijani literature and linguistics.
In his closing remarks, MP Elchin Mirzabayli stated that Vagif Huseynov's honorable life path is an example for those who know and love him.
