On May 2, a meeting was held with students at the Heydar Aliyev Center on the topic of “The Creativity of Heydar Aliyev and Omar Eldarov”.
The purpose of the meeting, organized on the eve of the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, is to deeply study and promote the legacy of the Great Leader, as well as to educate the younger generation about the architectural school formed in Azerbaijan during the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, the large-scale work carried out on urban planning, and the policy pursued in this area in terms of protecting national heritage, taking into account the fact that 2026 is the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” in our country.
The meeting discussed the creativity of the famous sculptor, People's Artist Omar Eldarov, his role in Azerbaijani architecture and fine arts, as well as the contributions of the National Leader to the field of culture and art.
Noting that events covering various fields, including culture and art, are organized at the Heydar Aliyev Center, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov also brought to attention the demonstration of sculptures: "Omar Eldarov always supports us in these matters. These days, we, as the Heydar Aliyev Center and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, are holding a series of events dedicated to the birthday of the Great Leader. It is a proud day for us that today you are participating in a specially prepared event at the Heydar Aliyev Center."
Sharing his memories of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, Omar Eldarov said that he was a very wise leader, sociable and sincere person. Speaking about the interest of the National Leader in art, the People's Artist spoke about Heydar Aliyev's desire to become an artist and noted that there was a famous artist and architect among his relatives. He said that the Great Leader visited exhibitions and exchanged views on fine arts.
During the meeting, video clips were also shown. The videos reflect the high appreciation of the artist's hard work and perseverance, the dialogue between the Great Leader and Omar Eldarov regarding the creative process, the concept of the works, and the role of the Azerbaijani sculpture school.
It should be noted that the "Heydar Aliyev and Omar Eldarov Creativity" project is one of the first events to be held with the participation of well-known people who were in close contact with the Great Leader and worked closely with him. It is no coincidence that this series was started by addressing Omar Eldarov's creativity. Creativity has served not only to form aesthetic taste in every era, but also to build bridges of friendship between peoples. National Leader Heydar Aliyev called Omar Eldarov's art a "symbol of humanity and culture."
The project is also of particular importance in terms of increasing the interest of the younger generation in the national and cultural heritage, forming their aesthetic taste, and communicating the achievements of our country in the field of architecture and urban planning to the general public.
