The opening ceremony of the MAMA “Mother Nature” International Art Exhibition was held at the Pons Foundation in Madrid.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, Arzu Aliyeva, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Spain, art representatives and representatives of the local community.
The MAMA “Mother Nature” international art exhibition, realized with the authorship of the idea of Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder of IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva, brings together artists representing different countries and cultures and draws attention to the connection between people and nature, as well as the importance of protecting the environment.
The project was first presented in 2024 in Baku, at the Heydar Aliyev Center, within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). The exhibition later gained international scale and was exhibited in Manama, Rome, London, Tbilisi, Berlin, Tirana, Geneva and Riga.
This time, the exhibition is being presented in Madrid, jointly organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Spain.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Spain Ramiz Hasanov said that the MAMA “Mother Nature” project is an international artistic initiative that explores the deep connection between art and humanity. It was noted that the project draws attention to the environmental challenges of the modern era. The ambassador expressed his gratitude to the author of the idea of the project, Leyla Aliyeva, for holding the exhibition in Madrid, and expressed his hope that the exhibition will contribute not only to increasing interest in art, but also to forming a greater sense of responsibility and care for the environment among visitors.
Speaking later, Luis Fonseca Sanchez, Head of the General Directorate for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Pacific of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, noted that his country is a land of art, creativity and culture. He noted that it is precisely thanks to this power that new opportunities for dialogue and cooperation with partners such as Azerbaijan are opening up. Spain is also one of the countries with the largest protected natural areas in Europe. These areas are accessible to thousands of visitors, which indicates the formation of a society that understands the importance of protecting ecosystems and biodiversity.
Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder of IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva spoke in her speech about the importance of the MAMA “Mother Nature” international project. Recalling that this exhibition was first demonstrated in Baku within the framework of COP29, Leyla Aliyeva said that the exposition was later organized in different countries of the world and carried an important message about nature, the environment and our common future.
“Nature is our mother. She gives us land, water and air. However, despite all this, we humans continue to harm these blessings given by nature. This exhibition is the next step towards a better future,” the Vice-President of the Foundation added.
It should be noted that the exhibition will be open to visitors from September 9 to 18.
The exhibition features works by renowned contemporary artists from Azerbaijan, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Ukraine, Georgia, the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries.
