The Puig-owned house said Tuesday that Olivier Rousteing has been officially appointed as Rabanne’s creative director, marking “a significant new step in Rabanne’s evolution.” The former Balmain creative director, who stepped down in November 2025 after 14 years, will present his first show for the house at Paris Fashion Week in March for the fall/winter 2027 season. He will succeed Julien Dossena, who is leaving the brand after 13 years.

Rousteing’s time at Balmain has been defined by a bold, intricately detailed aesthetic that is perhaps befitting a house synonymous with iconic metallic clothing. Now 40, he already has 15 years of creative director experience: When Rousteing was appointed to Balmain in 2011, he became the youngest non-founder designer to lead a major Parisian house since Yves Saint Laurent was appointed to Dior.
